Karmin Schwartz Design is a full service residential interior design firm, born from the collaboration between two lifelong friends and their shared passion for style and design. We use our combined expertise and design aesthetic, which focuses on warm, sophisticated and functional elements, to create homes that are elegant, comfortable and tailored to our clients' needs and personalities.
We know that the design process can be stressful, so we make it a priority to ensure that it is as simple, accessible, and most importantly as fun as possible. Because at the end of the day, we love what we do and we want you to love it too!
Karmin Schwartz Design is based out of Chicago, Illinois, and also services the surrounding suburbs, including projects in Aspen, CO, Washington, DC, and New Buffalo, MI.
Deborah
Deborah Schrayer Karmin is the co-founder of Karmin Schwartz Design and one of its two lead designers. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Michigan, and later studied at the International Academy of Design and Technology. Deborah worked for several high-end design firms before founding her own firm, Deborah Karmin Interiors, in 1996. Five years ago she joined Susan to create Karmin Schwartz Design.
Deborah and her husbandJon have three children, Alison, Zack and Sam.
Susan
Susan Diamond Schwartz is the co-founder of Karmin Schwartz Design and works alongside Deborah as its lead designer. She studied Art History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and also holds a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from the Ray College of Design. Susan boasts 25 years of experience working in several luxury residential design firms in Chicago before starting her own firm, Susan Diamond Schwartz Interiors, in 2008. In 2011, Susan and Deborah began their partnership at Karmin Schwartz Design.
Susan and her husband Ian have three children, Emily, Sydney and Justin.
